CCIEE Held 165th Monthly Economic Talk Themed of Sino-US Relations, Exchanges and Cooperation

On July 20, 2023, the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) held the 165th session of the "Monthly Economic Talk" with the theme of " Sino-US Relations, Exchanges and Cooperation." The meeting was chaired by Bi Jingquan,Vice Executive Chairman of CCIEE. Zhang Xiaoqiang, Executive Vice Chairman and Director of Board of Executives of CCIEE, Chen Wenling, Chief Economist and Deputy Director of Board of Executives of CCIEE, Su Wei, former Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission delivered speeches respectively.

 

 

 

Participants held that China and the United States should implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, seek the greatest common ground in more areas, promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, ensure mutual benefit and win-win results, and provide strong support for global economic recovery.

 

Zhang Xiaoqiang pointed out that the meeting between the two heads of state in Bali has drawn a bottom line of interests for both sides to prevent miscalculation and conflict, pointed out the direction for future development and explored the possibility of cooperation. There is much room for cooperation between China and the United States in many high-tech fields. The U.S. should maintain an open and cooperative attitude and promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.

 

Chen Wenling believes that the rapid development of the digital economy has provided a new historical opportunity for the economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States. Two cpuntries should give full play to their respective advantages, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of digital economy, and jointly participate in leading the formulation of international rules in the field of digital economy.

 

 

Su Wei proposed that in the next step, China and the United States should continue to promote the Sino-US climate change dialogue and consultation, strengthen dialogue and exchanges at the level of government , think tank and research institution and enterprise l,  encourage cooperation between the two sides in areas such as climate friendly technology, and maximize joint efforts to contribute to the global response to climate change.

 

After the speeches, the participating experts engaged in interactive exchanges with the media. Some researchers and member units of CCIEE, research institutions, enterprises, and news media participated in the conference through online channels.
