CCIEE Holds Press Briefing for U.S.-China Investment Cooperation Forum
On July 13, 2012, China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) held the press briefing for the U.S.-China Investment Cooperation Forum. Mr. Wei Jianguo, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of CCIEE, addressed the briefing and Mr. Chen Yongjie, Deputy Secretary-General of CCIEE, presided over the meeting.
The U.S.-China Investment Cooperation Forum will be held on July 17, 2012 at Beijing International Hotel. Mr. Wei introduced the preparation for the forum. He pointed out that right now is the critical moment for the development of the U.S.-China economic and trade relations, and there has been a mixed view on the U.S.-China bilateral investment. For example, the discussion on investment between the American states and Chinese provinces is very vibrant, whereas the discussion at the national level is less unsatisfactory. Furthermore, the investment in traditional industries, manufacturing and other labor-intensive industries is popular while the investment in high-tech, such as high-speed rail is rather inadequate. The aim of the forum is to enhance mutual understanding, expand bilateral investment, and clarify the invetment procedure issues relating to Chinese private companies so as to promote economic development in both countries.
Mr. Chen Yongjie highlighted the theme and agenda of the forum, and hoped that the media will conduct a full coverage of the forum, and help promote a stable and healthy development of the U.S.-China economic and trade relations.
