CCIEE Holds 37th Monthly Economic Talk
On July 18, 2012, China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) held the 37th Monthly Economic Talk at the China Millennium Monument, under the theme of the US Economy and Policy. Ms. Laura Tyson, professor in economics at the University of California, Berkley, delivered a keynote speech. Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice-Chairman of CCIEE, presided over the meeting.
As a well-known American scholar and economist, Prof. Tyson has a unique insight and analysis on the US and the world economies. She is not only a prominent professor in economics, but has also served as the chair of the US President’s Council of Economic Advisors during the Clinton administration. Currently, she is a member of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness under the Obama Administration. During her 90-minute presentation, Prof. Tyson gave an in-depth analysis on the current situation of the US economy. She indicated the problems facing the US in the aspects of finance, employment, taxation and so forth. In particular, she highlighted economic restructuring facing the US economy since the financial crisis broke out in 2008.
After her presentation, Prof. Tyson answered questions from the audience. Also at the meeting were researchers and member companies of CCIEE, other research institutions and the media.
