On July 31^st, the press conference for the 3rd China (Binhai, Tianjin) International Eco-city Forum & Expo was held in China World Hotel. Wei Jianguo, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of CCIEE, Zhang Xiaochong, Deputy Secretary-General of CCIEE, Zong Guoying, District Mayor of the Binhai New District, Tianjin, Xu Datong, Director General of the Commerce Committee of Binhai New District, Tianjin and other officials from the NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) and MOHURD (Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development) attended the press conference.

Wei Jianguo and Zong Guoying addressed the press conference., while Xu Datong gave a detailed introduction of the preparation progress of the 3rd China (Binhai, Tianjin) International Eco-city Forum & Expo.    

The 3rd China (Binhai, Tianjin) International Eco-city Forum & Expo are jointly hosted by the NDRC, MOHURD, Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, and China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE). The People’s Government of Binhai New District, Tianjin, is the organizer of the forum & expo, which will be held in Tianjin Binhai International Conference Center and Tianjin Binhai International Exhibition Center this September.

The forum will extend the permanent theme of Eco-city Creates Harmonious Future, and focus on the topic of Construction of Eco-city and System Innovation. It is a good opportunity for pooling global wisdom together, and discussing how to contribute to the development of China’s eco-city by cooperating with domestic and foreign organizations, institutions and companies in the aspects of technology, policy and finance.

Comparing with the precious two forums, this year’s forum is at a higher starting point in terms of theme, scope of the topic, organization and participation. It strives to highlight the following four features.

Professionalism. Many renowned scholars and experts, officials and corporate representatives will be invited as guest speakers to the forum and discuss the construction and development of eco-city.

Effectiveness. Discussions will be based on the current development of eco-city and the need of industrial development. Delegates will exchange their views on hot issues and tricky issues in these fields.

Internationalism. Apart from well-known international scholars and experts, the forum will also invite delegates from the ecological demonstration cities of Germany, Japan, Taiwan region and Macao Special Administrative Region. International organizations and prominent companies will be invited as well.

Experiencing. During the forum, sparticipants will have the chance to observe the application of ecological and environment-protection technologies. The organizer of the forum hopes that the guests can have an on-site experience of the achievement of Binhai New District has made in eco-city construction.  

On the morning of September 22^nd, the main forum will be held at Binhai International Conference Center under the theme of Eco-city Construction & System Mechanism Innovation. In the afternoon, delegates will exchange views on such issues as the current development of domestic and foreign low-carbon eco-city, eco-city and living environment, the practice and assessment of green architecture, ecological restoration in the process of urbanization and Chinese and foreign mayors summit. Apart from that, they will discuss how to promote innovation in resource management and environment, infrastructure, economy and industry, culture and so forth.

The Expo will also be held in Binhai International Exhibition Center from September 21 to 25 and is open to public for free. Four exhibition areas will be set, namely, Low-carbon and Ecological Demonstration City, Low-carbon and Strategic Emerging Industry, Circular Economy, and Green Architecture and Materials. The expo will present the latest achievement in the construction of eco-city, effective and livable city development models as well as the latest technologies and innovation. Undoubtedly, the expo will propel the harmonious development of eco-city by driving technological innovation, trade, cooperation and exchanges among different cities. 

Meanwhile, other seminars will also be held during the expo, including the Environment-Friendly and Low-carbon Products Promotion and Release Conference, Energy-Saving and Emission-Reduction Industrial Projects Fair, Technology of Water Treatment Fair, Technology of New Energy Fair, the Supply and Demand of Green Architecture Fair, and Foreign Economy and Trade Services Fair.
