CCIEE Holds 45th Monthly Economic Talk
On March 19, 2013, CCIEE held the 45th Monthly Economic Talk at Beijing Media Center, under the theme of New Urbanization: China’s Realistic Choices. Nie Zhenbang, Vice Chairman of CCIEE and former Director of State Grain Administration, presided over the talk.
Wang Guoping, President of Hangzhou Research Institute of International Cities, former member of the standing committee of Zhejiang province committee and former CPC Party Secretary of Hangzho Municipality, Shi Guoxiang, Mayor of Siping City, Jilin Province, and Liu Sen, Deputy Mayor of Xinxiang city, Henan province, gave presentations.
Wang Guoping argued that China has now an unprecedented historical opportunity in urbanization. He put forward five issues in China’s promotion of urbanization and proposed to drive the transformation of economic development with that of urban development mode.
Shi Guoxiang reckoned that the treatment of urban peasant workers must be improved in order to achieve comprehensive urbanization.
Liu Sen pointed out that accelerating urbanization and tapping new sources of economic growth are key measures for promoting sustainable economic development and full-scale social progress.
Wang Xianlei, Director of the CCIEE post-doctoral station, introduced the main contents of the new book 2012-2013 Important Global Affairs.
At the end of the meeting, the experts took questions from the audience. Also at the meeting were researchers and representatives from member companies of CCIEE, other research institutions and the media.
