CCIEE Holds 46th Monthly Economic Talk

On April 19, 2013, CCIEE held the 46th Monthly Economic Talk at Beijing Media Center under the theme of Macroeconomic Analysis of the 1st Quarter. Mr. Chen Yongjie, Deputy Secretary General of CCIEE, presided over the talk.

Mr. Zhu Baoliang, Director of the Forecast Department of the State Information Center, Mr. Wang Xuekun, Deputy Director of the Policy Research Office of the Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Zhu Jianfang, Chief Economist of the CITIC Securities, Co., Limited, and Zhang Yongjun, Deputy Director General of the Economic Research Department of CCIEE, delivered speeches respectively.

Mr. Zhu Baoliang argued that the economy will be further improved if China can translate the excessive industrial capacity into full use. Mr. Wang Xuekun pointed out that China’s foreign trade has a difficult time in the first half of this year but might rebound in the second half. Zhu Jianfang reckoned that the economic growth of this year is likely to be lower than expected but inflation will be effectively curtailed. Finally, Mr. Zhang Yongjun analyzed the current macroeconomic trend, predicted the future trend and made several policy recommendations on macro regulation.

At the end of the meeting, the experts took questions from the audience. Also at the meeting were researchers and representatives from member companies of CCIEE, other research institutions and the media.
