CCIEE Holds 49th CCIEE Monthly Economic Talk
On July 16, 2013, CCIEE held the 49th Monthly Economic Talk under the theme of Analysis of China’s Economy in the First Half of 2013. Mr. Liu Kegu, Deputy Director of CCIEE Academic committee and former Vice-Governor of China Development Bank, presided over the talk.
Mr. He Keng, former Vice-Chairman of the NPC (National People’s Congress) Financial and Economic Committee, Mr. Liu Yuanchun, Vice-Dean of the School of Economics at China’s Renmin University and Mr. Zhang Yongjun, Deputy Director-General of the Economic Research Department at CCIEE, delivered speeches respectively.
Mr. He Keng pointed out that generally speaking, China’s economy is stable despite the fact that the downward pressure will be hard to change in the short term, nonetheless, a hard-landing is very unlikely. Mr. Liu Yuanchun reckoned that there has been crisis in some parts of the financial industry, the recent money shortage implies severe systematic problems, and the previous support given to real economy by the financial industry is unsustainable. Mr. Zhang Yongjun also argued that it is necessary to maintain a relatively fast economic growth in the current economic phase.
At the end of the talk, experts took questions from the audience and media.
Researchers and representatives from corporate member companies of CCIEE, other research institutions and the media attended the meeting.
