CCIEE Holds 51st Monthly Economic Talk
On September 25, 2013, CCIEE held the 51st Monthly Economic Talk at Beijing Media Center, under the theme of Economic Trend of Emerging Economies. Chen Yongjie, Deputy Secretary General of CCIEE, presided over the meeting.

Ms. Tatiana Rosita, Economic Minister-Counsellor, Brazilian Embassy in Beijing, introduced the measures that have been implemented by Brazilian government to cope with the financial crisis, such as tax-reduction, improving minimum wage, enlarging the scale of middle class, improving social welfare and boosting economy with investment and consumption. As a result, Brazilian economy has started to recover over the past couple of years, and the negative economic growth rate became a positive one.
He Liping, Professor of Beijing Normal University, analyzed the recent macroeconomic situation in India and Indonesia. He argued that the decreasing economic growth in India is a reflection of structural contradiction, while it is probably only a temporary phenomenon in Indonesia.
Zhang Yongjun, Deputy General-Director of the Economic Research Department of CCIEE, analyzed the international and domestic causes of current decreasing economic growth in emerging economies from a global perspective. The international causes can be summarized as the reduced trade deficit and apparent economic recovery in the EU, Japan, the U.S. and other developed nations. From the perspective of emerging economies, the slowing economic growth is a result of structural contradiction. At the end, he made several proposals on how China should cope with the economic recovery in industrialized economies and the decreasing economic growth in emerging economies.
At the end of the talk, experts took questions from the audience and media.
Researchers and representatives from corporate member companies of CCIEE, other research institutions and the media attended the meeting.
