CCIEE Holds 56th Monthly Economic Talk

On February 21st, 2014, CCIEE held the 56th Monthly Economic Talk, under the theme of Comprehensively Deepening Reforms, Economic Mode Transformation and Stable Economic Growth. Mr. Zhang Dawei, General Secretary of CCIEE, chaired the meeting.

Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice-Chairman of CCIEE, Mr. He Keng, former Vice-Chairman of the Financial and Economic Committee of the National People’s Congress, delivered speeches respectively.

Mr. Zheng Xinli pointed points out that the focus of macroeconomic adjustment should be shifted from total amount to structural adjustment. The current price stability has provided a sound external environment for such kind of transformation. Maintaining stable economic growth requires more guidance on structural adjustment while realizing structural adjustment requires the combination of planning, public finance and tax and finance. Moreover, the policies for structural adjustment should be functional rather than selective. China is changing itself from a middle-income country to a high-income one and its macro-adjustment policies should be different from that of developed countries.

He Keng believed believes that proper measures are needed to boost domestic demand and increase residential income and employment. Enlarging the proportion of residential income is essential for stimulating domestic demand effectively. The income distribution among government, companies and individuals must be adjusted appropriately. Apart from that, he reckoned reckons that the proportion of government’s revenue is basically reasonable but the proportion of residential income needs to be enhanced by reducing large enterprises’ profitability while alleviating burdens on small-size enterprise.

At the end of the talk, experts took questions from the audience and media.

Researchers and representatives from corporate member companies of CCIEE, other research institutions and the media attended the meeting.
