CCIEE Holds 9th "Monthly Economic Talk”

On the Morning of April 24, 2011, CCIEE held its 9th “Monthly Economic Talk” at the China Millennium Monument, Beijing, under the theme of “Economic Analysis of the First Quarter 2010 & Release of CCIEE’s Research Findings.” The Talk was chaired by Wang Xianlei, Director of the Research Department of CCIEE. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman of CCIEE, delivered a speech entitled “Strong Economic Recovery & Structure Adjustment need to be strengthened: Economic Analysis of the First Quarter.”
In Zheng’s Speech, he gave a comprehensive and detailed analysis of domestic demand, investment, consumption, export-import and money supply through incisive data and rigorous logic. He also stressed that transformation of economic growth structure had become an urgent task. Despite the economic recovery in the first quarter, we still need to remain vigilant about the potential risks which should be dealt immediately. Wang Jun and Zhang Yongjun, Senior Research Fellows of CCIEE, introduced the latest research findings respectively, including the “2010 1st Quarter Chinese Economy Prosperity Index”, “2010 1st Quarter International Commodity Price Index”, “2010 1st Quarter CCIEE-SJTU Global Shipping Prosperity Index”, as well as the problems with the Equilibrium Exchange Rate Model of Peterson Institute.”
Zhang Xiang, former Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and Standing Director of CCIEE, Zhu Baoliang, Chief Economist of the Economic Forecast Department at the State Information Center, Zong Liang, Director of the Institute of International Finance and Deputy General Manager of Strategy Development Department, Bank of China, Shi Jie, General Manager of the Credit Review Depatment, China Minsheng Bank and Liu Kegu, former Vice Governor of the State Development Bank and Deputy Director of CCIEE Academic Committee commented on the speeches respectively.
At the end, a lively Q & A section was offered to the audiences, in which questions such as exchange rate and the over-heated property market were answered comprehensively by the speaking guests. Staff from the Departments of Information and Research also attended this event.
