CCIEE Holds 29th Monthly Economic Talk
On November 23rd, 2011, CCIEE held the 29th Monthly Economic Talk at Beijing Media Hotel, under the theme of the Current International Economy and Hot Issues. Li Deshui, deputy Director of the CCIEE Academic Committee and former Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, chaired the talk.
Zhang Yunling, Professor of International Economics, Director of Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies and Institute of Japanese Studies at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Jin Canrong, deputy Director of School of International Studies at Renmin University of China, Zong Liang, Vice Managing Director of the Strategic Planning Department at Bank of China, and deputy Dean of the Institute of International Finance, Zhang Yongjun, deputy Director of the Research Department of CCIEE, Zhu Yiping, Researcher of the Research Center of the Ministry of Commerce, PRC, delivered speeches respectively on such issues as the APEC Leaders Meeting, East Asia Summits, systematic reform of important financial institutions, the US deficit reduction, RMB exchange rate and the European debt crisis in his summary. After the speeches, Li Deshui pointed out that a global unified exchange rate regime does not exist, the variation of exchange rate is determined by the market demand and supply. The IMF also states clearly that each nation can choose its own exchange rate regime according to its economic condition. Therefore, the choice of exchange rate regime is a sovereign issue.
Also attended the talk were staff from the research department, research & consulting department and information department of CCIEE, member companies of CCIEE, other research institutions and media.
