CCIEE Holds 24th Monthly Economic Talk

On June 29^th 2011, CCIEE held the 24th Monthly Economic Talk at Beijing Media Center, under the theme of Further Reforming the Taxation, Finance and Monetary Systems, Accelerating the Development of the Service Industry. Zhang Zhigang, President of China General Chamber of Commerce, chaired the talk.

XU Shanda, Member of the National Committee of CPPCC and former Deputy Director-General of the State Bureau of Taxation, CHEN Wenlin, Chief Economist of CCIEE, and XU Wei, Researcher of the Research & Consultancy Department at CCIEE, delivered speeches respectively. The speakers said that developing the service industry is not only an important measure to promote economic mode transformation in the short term, but also part of the long term national strategy. The biggest barrier in the development of service industry is taxation system and thus, tax reform is imperative. The reform should begin in some pilot regions and it must be conducted in a positive and stable way.      

The speakers answered questions from the audiences after their speeches. Attending the talk were staff from the research and information departments of CCIEE, member companies, enterprises, research institutions and presses.
