CCIEE Holds 16th Monthly Economic Talk

On the morning of October 11th 2010, CCIEE held its 16th Monthly Economic Talk at the Media Center, Beijing, under the theme of Accelerating the Construction of Affordable Housing & Promoting Healthy Development of the Real Estate Market. Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman chaired the talk.

         

Mr. He Keng, Deputy Director of the National People’s Congress Financial and Economic Committee and former Director General of the National Bureau of Statistics of China. Mr. Chen Huai, Deputy Commissioner of the Policy Research Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction and Director of the Institute of Chinese Urban and Rural Economic Development, Ms. Nie Meisheng, Chairman of the Chamber of Real Estate at All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Wang Jun, Researcher of CCIEE, Mr. Ma Qingbin, Associate Researcher of CCIEE, delivered speeches respectively in relation to the theme of the talk.

The guest speakers gave in-depth analyses regarding the following issues: understanding and suggestions on strengthening the construction of affordable housing, housing security system for China, background and impacts of the current adjustments in the real estate market,and other countries’ experience in building affordable housing. Also, the 2010 3rd quarter CCIEE Index has been released at the talk. With scientific and systematic theory and detailed data, the experts made proposals to improve the affordable housing system, elaborated the relationship between affordable housing system and real estate market as well as the background and impact of the newly-released “10 National Provisions” and “5 National Provisions” (provisions to curb the price surge in the real estate market). At the end, they summarized lessons and experiences in the real estate market and affordable housing construction of developed countries and made recommendations on the development of China’s affordable housing construction.

The speakers answered questions from the audiences in the Q & A section. Also attended the talk were staff from the research and information departments, CCIEE member companies, people from enterprises and research institutions and media.
