On June 29, CCIEE held an online conference with ASEAN think tanks including Asian Vision Institution (AVI) of Cambodia, Asia-Pacific Pathways to Progress Foundation (APPPF) of the Philippines, East Asian Institute (EAI) at National University of Singapore, and Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI). The representatives had full discussion on topics including “How to deepen China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation in the current situation”, “Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and China-ASEAN industry chain cooperation”, “The Belt and Road Initiative cooperation”, and “Building a community with a shared future between China and ASEAN in the new era”.

The representatives were of view that against the backdrop of the continued impact of the pandemic and the shrinking global economy, China and ASEAN’s joint efforts to strengthen economic and trade cooperation and to promote economic globalization and regional integration are conducive to economic recovery and of great significance in reshaping the global supply and industry chain. In the future, the two sides will continue to promote China-ASEAN cooperation in economy, trade and industry chain under the RCEP framework, and focus on strengthening pragmatic cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, green development, financing and capacity building, so as to jointly build the "Belt & Road" with high quality and promote the continuous development of a community with a shared future between China and ASEAN.

Virtually attended the meeting were Zhang Yansheng, Principal Researcher of CCIEE, Chheang Vannarith, President of AVI, Jaime Flor Cruz, Member of Board and Executive Committee of APPPF, Bert Hofman, Director of East Asian Institute, Chen Gang, Assistant Director of East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore, and Wisarn Pupphavesa, Senior Advisor of TDRI.
