Chairman of the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies Visits CCIEE

On the afternoon of December 23, Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, met with Prof. Dong-Sung Cho, Chairman of the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies and Commissioner of the National Competitiveness Commission. Also at the meeting were, Xu Chaoyou, Deputy Director-General of the Department of External Affairs, Niu Tiehang, Editor-in-Chief of the CCIEE journal GLOBALIZATION.

Prof. Cho introduced his research work on national competitiveness and pointed out, the ranking of national competitiveness among China, Korea and Japan has changed to “China (1st), Korea (2nd), Japan (3rd)” from “Japan, Korea, China” ten years ago, as a result of China’s rapid development. China’s experience in building national competitiveness is definitely worth studying and learning. He hoped to cooperate with CCIEE to develop a new evaluation model of national competitiveness, which combines China’s experience.

Mr. Wei said that as the most influential economist selected by Korean Presidential Office, Prof. Cho’s research work in national competitiveness is at international leading level, and CCIEE is willing to establish cooperation in the area of national competitiveness evaluation and other fields.  

The two sides agreed to keep close contact and begin cooperation soon.
